for any electrical work that is required.

We offer services that range from extra sockets and installation of cooking
equipment through to lighting and ventilation design and installation.

Many older properties, and some newer buildings, are short of plug sockets or have sockets and switches positioned poorly for the requirements of modern businesses. In a business environment it is unsuitable to run extension leads to overcome these limitations so additional sockets may be the solution. Our electricians are able to talk you through the options you have for your business and will take the current and future use of the workspaces into account.

Ensuring the safety of people whilst they are on your premises is paramount, a professionally designed and installed fire detection and suppression system makes sense not only from a safety point of view but also for business continuity in the event of a fire. Our engineers can offer a tailored fire detection solution which integrates into your current / new security system or a standalone system. The equipment installed as part of most systems would include a fire panel, smoke detectors, fire detectors, break glass points, audio and visual alarms, emergency lighting and remote monitoring equipment.

An Electric Installation Condition Report (ECIR) is a fixed wire inspection test done on the electrical wiring of the property. This is done to find and outline problems with fixed wiring circuits that might present a risk in your building.

All fixed electrical installations in your property deteriorate with usage and over time. These might become a fire hazard and the only way you can know and rectify the problem is through an EICR report. It is a requirement by law especially for landlords and residential property owners. You are required to do an EICR every year to have all fixed electrical installations periodically inspected and tested by a qualified engineer who then produces a report to ascertain the safety of your tenants.

We will check all wiring installations for exposed wiring, exposed terminals, poor quality materials, correct type, bonding conductors, switchgear location and proper use of the installations. A detailed test is made on each of the circuits to determine if there are safety measures in place and if they operate efficiently in fault conditions. Once we complete all the tests and inspections, the wiring system will be in tip top condition.

After inspection, if there are any issues or problems, we have qualified electricians who can do all the repairs and maintenance works on the wiring system and we offer solutions to any problem found during the inspection.

Call us at 0800 652 5532 to have a qualified electrician carry out your EICR Inspection and electrical repairs.

Commercial electrical installations differ from residential ones in many essential ways.  In business premises, new wiring remains fully accessible and out in the open, typically safeguarded by conduits to protect against hazards and the amount of voltage required is significantly higher.

Electrical wiring in business premises uses different materials such as thermoplastic materials with nylon high resistance coating inside the conduit to protect wiring. The electrician will make sure wiring and outlets are installed in a safe manner, depending on the potential hazards nearby using special insulation to further shield the wiring.

Here at R&G, we provide you the safest commercial electrical installation that meets your needs without sacrificing efficiency.

Our coverage area is across London and the Home Counties.

Call us at 0800 652 5532 to have a qualified electrician check and complete your property’s electrical installation.

‘What is a PAT test?’ is a question we get asked all the time.

A PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) test is a routine inspection of electrical appliance to check they are safe to use. Its purpose is to prevent electrical accidents in the workplace. A full PAT test includes a visual inspection and in-depth check using specialized PAT equipment to determine whether the appliance “passed” or “failed” for the health and safety of the people in the workplace.

The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of equipment. This requires the implementation of a systematic and regular program or maintenance, inspection and testing.

Our aim here at R&G is to provide businesses with a simple and cost-effective solution for them to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations, giving them peace of mind and promoting a safe working environment.

Under the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) the obligation is in the following circumstances:

  • Where the portable appliances are used by employees.
  • Where the public may use appliances in establishments such as hospitals, schools, hotels, shops etc.
  • Where portable appliances are supplied or hired.
  • Where portable appliances are repaired or serviced.

POPULAR QUESTIONS

  • Is there a difference between a fuse and circuit breaker?

They both perform the same function, disrupting the flow of electricity when a fault is sensed. A fuse will have to be replaced once it has tripped, whereas a circuit breaker won’t need replacement. It is for this reason that circuit breakers are more commonly used

  • What does the term “short circuit” mean?

When a wire carrying an electrical current comes into contact with the grounded conductor wire, or the equipment ground wire, excessive heat is created. If you see sparks in your electrical panel, you’ve likely witnessed a short circuit and you should have it checked by an electrician.

  • What is a GFCI outlet?

This type of electrical outlet is designed to protect you from electrical shock if moisture is present. They are commonly found in bathrooms, kitchens, outdoor outlets and garages. They feature test/reset buttons. Depress the “test” button to turn off the GFCI. The “reset” button turns it back on after it has tripped. If it doesn’t reset, you’ve got a problem and will need an electrician.

  • Why do my light bulbs blow out frequently?

There are several reasons this could be occurring. However, one particular reason that should be ruled out, for the sake of fire safety, is overheating. A light fixture with poor airflow design will result in excessive heat buildup around the bulb. Having to replace bulbs again and again is not just an inconvenience, it’s also a fire hazard. Have your light fixtures inspected by an electrician if you notice that bulbs are constantly blowing out
